Getting Started with ABA Therapy Services
Getting started with ABA therapy can be overwhelming. Where do you begin? Who do you contact? Are these services provided in my area? Will my insurance cover therapy? These are all great questions and we are here to help you navigate your way.
If your child has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, the first step would be to start looking into companies who provide services in your area. There are many different approaches that can be taken in ABA and it is important to find one that is right for you and your family. Familiarize yourself with the various approaches to ABA, find out what options they provide, how their therapy is delivered and what programs are incorporated into their services.
Once you have familiarized yourself with different ABA providers, find out what insurances are accepted and be sure that these are compatible with your health insurance plan. Some things to keep in mind when narrowing down a company that is right for your family might be:
- How long is the waiting list to begin sessions?
- Do you have bilingual staff?
- How many staff members will be in my home?
- Will there be a BCBA overlooking my case?
These questions will help you determine the right option for your child. Here at Reach Therapy, we take each of these factors into consideration when starting a new case and will always consult the family as a whole both before and during therapy services. We view this as a partnership - one that is vital to creating the best outcome possible for your child.
